The Wolf Cooper Foundation (the “Foundation”) is a Canadian not-for-profit corporation [and a pending registered charity. The Foundation was established to fund and administer the Wolf Scholars Program, which was launched in 2025 in collaboration with the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto.
"Personal Information" means information about an identifiable individual, including any information about them or that can be used to identify them, directly or indirectly. For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, Personal Information means any information provided to or collected by the Foundation about an identifiable individual. The Foundation uses Personal Information in accordance with all applicable laws concerning the protection of Personal Information.
The Foundation is committed to protecting the privacy of identifiable individuals, including its donors, applicants, scholarship program participants, parents and guardians, employees, assessors, volunteers, visitors to its websites, users of its digital resources and other partners and stakeholders (collectively “Users”). The Foundation is accountable for and transparent in how it treats Personal Information. It does not sell, rent or trade its mailing lists, donor lists, student lists, or other Personal Information.
This Privacy Policy applies to all Personal Information provided to or collected by the Foundation through any means including, without limitation, through its websites www.wolfscholars.com and www.wolfcooperfoundation.com (the “Websites”), through third-party intake and application platforms, by email, facsimile, postal mail, telephone, video conferencing, in face-to-face conversations, hand delivered, or through any other interaction with Users.

When a User accesses the Websites, the Foundation may automatically collect technical data about their equipment and browsing history using cookies and similar technologies (See Section D below for more information). Where a User participates in an interview, the interview may be recorded for assessment and administrative purposes.
The Foundation may collect or receive Personal Information when Users interact with its content on third-party platforms, such as social media. This may include data such as comments or feedback, “likes” or shares, profile data or the fact that a User viewed or interacted with its content. The Foundation may receive Personal Information about Users who have applied for scholarships from academic and other organizations. The Foundation may receive Personal Information when Users provide their Personal Information to third-party service providers used by the Foundation including, without limitation, application management platforms such as Typeform, event management platforms such as Luma or scholarship management platforms such as Award Force. The Foundation may also receive Personal Information about Users who make a donation to it through any donor management platform it may use from time to time, such as Raiser’s Edge.

The Foundation collects, uses, and discloses Personal Information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances. The Foundation identifies the purposes for which Personal Information is collected at or before the time the information is collected, including:
The Foundation does not collect more Personal Information than it needs to achieve these purposes. If the Foundation wants to collect, use or disclose Personal Information for a new purpose, it will inform the User of that purpose and obtain their consent, unless the law permits or requires such activity without consent. In Quebec, the Foundation may use Personal Information for certain secondary purposes without consent only if permitted by law, and only where the new purpose is consistent with the original purpose, subject to applicable conditions under Quebec’s Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (Law 25).
The Foundation only collects, uses and discloses Personal Information with the User’s knowledge and consent. The Foundation is committed to obtaining meaningful consent, using clear explanations in plain language, to make sure that its consent processes are understandable and accessible.
Express consent means that a person has clearly and explicitly agreed to the collection, use or disclosure of their Personal Information. Express consent may be expressed orally, electronically or in writing.
Implied consent means a situation in which, even though a person has not given express consent, the Foundation assumes that they have consented to the collection, use or disclosure of their Personal Information based on what they do or do not do. For example, if a User provides documents containing their Personal Information when applying for a scholarship or corresponding with the Foundation, the Foundation can reasonably conclude that the User consents to its collection and use of this Personal Information for that purpose.
A User has the right at any time to withdraw or cancel their consent to the collection, use or disclosure of their Personal Information as applicable, by contacting the Foundation’s Privacy Officer at info@wolfscholars.com. Withdrawals of consent only take effect from the date upon which they acknowledge receipt of their cancellation. Withdrawals of consent cannot be retroactive. The Foundation will inform the User if the withdrawal of consent may affect the Foundation’s ability to communicate or provide services to them. The Foundation will not be liable for any consequences that may arise from such withdrawal of consent.
The Foundation will only collect Personal Information for the purposes identified in this Privacy Policy. If it wants to collect information for a different purpose, it will tell the User what that purpose is in writing and obtain their consent.
The Foundation will not collect, use or disclose more Personal Information than is reasonably necessary to meet the identified purposes. It will limit its collection of Personal Information to that which is necessary for the purposes identified by the Foundation. It collects Personal Information only by fair and lawful means.
The Foundation will only use or disclose Personal Information for the purposes for which it was collected, unless it has the User’s consent to use it for a different purpose or required by law. If the Foundation wants to use or disclose the Personal Information for a new purpose, it will advise the User of this purpose in writing and obtain their consent.
The Foundation keeps Personal Information only as long as necessary to achieve the purposes for which it was collected although it may retain certain Personal Information indefinitely if it is required to do so by Canada Revenue Agency or by its insurers. If a User has made a request to access Personal Information, the Foundation will keep that Personal Information for as long as is necessary to allow the User to fully exhaust any remedies that they may have under federal and provincial legislation.
The Foundation does not disclose or share Personal Information more widely than is necessary to achieve the purposes for which it was collected.

The Foundation requires all third parties to respect the security of Personal Information and to treat it in accordance with all applicable legal requirements. All third-party service providers are required to enter into contractual agreements with the Foundation that prevent them from using Personal Information for their own purposes and require them to use Personal Information only for specific purposes in accordance with this Privacy Policy and all applicable legal requirements.
The Foundation has adequate processes and safeguards in place to keep Personal Information as accurate, complete, and up-to-date as is necessary for the purposes for which it is to be used. The Foundation will not routinely update Personal Information unless such a process is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which the Personal Information was collected. The Foundation will take reasonable steps to keep Personal Information in both paper and electronic format protected against loss, theft, snooping, data scraping, hacking or unauthorized collection, use, disclosure, copying, destruction, disposal or modification. The Foundation aims to make all employees, volunteers as well as third-party service providers aware of the importance of maintaining the privacy and security of Personal Information. All Foundation employees and volunteers must sign a confidentiality agreement. The Foundation requires all third-party service providers to enter into contractual agreements that require them to respect the security of Personal Information and to treat it in accordance with all applicable legal requirements.
The Foundation securely destroys Personal Information so that reconstruction is not reasonably possible. This prevents unauthorized parties from gaining access to the Personal Information.
While the Foundation is committed to protecting Personal Information, its security practices and technology measures cannot guarantee absolute security of Personal Information, and the Foundation cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information Users provide to it. Users can reduce risk to their own information by using strong passwords, keeping their passwords confidential and following other data security best practices.
The Foundation will make available to Users specific information about its policies and practices relating to the management of Personal Information including by posting this Privacy Policy in a substantially similar form on the Websites. If a User has any questions about this Privacy Policy, including how to exercise their legal rights, or if they would like specific information about how the Foundation manages Personal Information, they should contact the Privacy Officer at info@wolfscholars.com.
Upon request to the Privacy Officer, the Foundation will inform individuals of the existence, use, and disclosure of their Personal Information and it will give them access to it, except in limited circumstances. The Foundation will correct Personal Information that is incomplete, out-of-date, or inaccurate except in limited circumstances. If the Foundation identifies a gap in compliance, it will take appropriate steps to remedy the situation, including changing its policies and practices if necessary. When a User browses or visits the Websites, the Foundation may automatically collect information about their equipment and browsing history using cookies, server log files and other similar mechanisms. By using the Websites, Users consent to the use of cookies in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

The Foundation cannot control these third-party websites and the Foundation is not responsible for the actions or policies of such third parties. The Foundation may collect Personal Information when a User interacts with its content on third-party sites or platforms, such as LinkedIn or other social media. This may include data such as comments or feedback, "likes" or shares, profile data or the fact that someone viewed or interacted with its content. If a User voluntarily posts or submits any information on these platforms, their Personal Information may be automatically included in the posting and may be collected and used by others.
To protect their privacy, Users should be careful about providing Personal Information to any third-party site including any social media sites.
The Foundation uses Google Analytics to provide it with information about how Users engage with the Websites.
The Foundation uses PayPal to process payment data.
The Foundation uses Typeform and Award Force to process scholarship applications.
The Foundation uses Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge to process donations.
The Foundation uses Luma to process event registrations.
The Foundation uses Mailchimp to manage email communications.
The Foundation’s activities and programs are targeted at youth and young adults between the ages of 17 and 27. This means that the collection of some Personal Information of children and youth is necessary to provide the Foundation’s services.
The Foundation understands that Personal Information relating to children and youth is particularly sensitive, especially the younger they are. The Foundation will not knowingly collect Personal Information from children or youth under the age of 14 unless it has the consent of their parents or guardians. The Foundation collects the minimum amount of Personal Information of children and youth necessary to achieve its purposes.
If you are a child or youth, YOU SHOULD REVIEW THIS PRIVACY POLICY WITH YOUR PARENTS OR GUARDIANS to make sure that you understand and consent to everything in it. IF YOU ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 14, you should not access the Websites or provide the Foundation with any Personal Information unless your parent or guardian has consented. The Foundation complies with the requirements of Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (“CASL”), as amended from time to time at all times, including when: sending emails or texts from the Foundation account, email address or domain name, obtaining consent from recipients to send emails or texts, managing and responding to requests to unsubscribe and documenting and retaining records of consent. The Foundation does not send commercial electronic messages (“CEMs”) to any person unless it has express or implied consent from the recipient, the CEM includes identification and contact information for the sender and the CEM has an unsubscribe mechanism. To ensure compliance with CASL, the Foundation has written policies and procedures, updates its volunteers and staff regarding CASL requirements and keeps records of consents and requests to unsubscribe. Complaints regarding the sending of CEMs and requests to unsubscribe from CEMs should be directed to the Privacy Officer at info@wolfscholars.com.
Some or all of the Personal Information collected by the Foundation may be transferred to third-party service providers in the course of its normal operations or activities including, without limitation, being stored on servers in cloud-based environments or transferred through other technological measures to trusted third parties to assist the Foundation in serving you. Some of these service providers are located outside of Canada and therefore Personal Information may be stored or processed in jurisdictions outside of Canada. As a result, this information may be subject to access requests from foreign governments, courts, or law enforcement in those jurisdictions according to laws in those jurisdictions.
The Foundation is not established in the European Union or any other jurisdiction outside of Canada that, either now or in the future, enacts data privacy laws that operate beyond the limits of the enacting state (“International Jurisdictions”). The Foundation does not offer services to individuals in the International Jurisdictions and does not knowingly monitor the behaviour of individuals in the International Jurisdictions. The Foundation does not knowingly collect or process Personal Information from individuals located in the International Jurisdictions. Individuals located in the International Jurisdictions should not access its Websites or provide it with any Personal Information. Any questions or concerns about the Foundation’s privacy practices or procedures in relation to other jurisdictions should be directed to the Privacy Officer at the coordinates provided above.
The Foundation will update this Privacy Policy from time to time in response to developments and changes in privacy law or to reflect technological changes or new functionalities.
When the Foundation posts changes to this Privacy Policy on the Websites, it will change the “last updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy. If possible, it will post notices of significant changes before they take place.
A User’s continued use of the Websites after any changes are made signifies their agreement with the terms of the revised Privacy Policy.
