Your Guide to the Wolf Scholars Nomination Process

Supporting your students to apply

The Wolf Scholars Program invites educators to nominate outstanding students, while also giving students the opportunity to self-nominate if not nominated by their school. A school nomination allows educators to champion students who demonstrate academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, leadership potential, and strength of character. Please register as a Nominator School at the link in Step 3 below.

While a school nomination provides added support to an application, it does not guarantee advancement. All nominations are reviewed holistically, alongside the overall strength of the student’s application. The method through which you select the nominated students is at your discretion.

Students do not need a nomination to apply for Wolf Scholars – applications are welcome from all eligible students.

Please note that student applications are due November 10, 2025, and schools must validate nominations by November 17, 2025.

The nomination process

Step 1: Create a Wolf Scholars Portal account

keyboard_arrow_down

Create a Wolf Scholars Portal account account here to begin the process.

Important: Please note that simply opening a Wolf Scholars Portal account does not register your school nominator contact.

Step 2: Appoint and Register a School Nominator Contact

keyboard_arrow_down

Select one individual to act as your school’s designated representative for all Wolf Scholars nominations and validations.

Register Your School Nominator Contact
After creating your Wolf Scholars Portal account, click “Start Application (for students) or Registration (for schools)” on the portal landing page. Enter your school nominator’s contact details along with your school’s address. Once the form is submitted, your school will be considered registered, and a confirmation email will be sent to the nominator contact.

Step 3: Select Students via an Internal Process

keyboard_arrow_down

Select up to three students for nomination, and notify them that they have been nominated. The process for nomination is at your school’s discretion and internal to your school. If you would like a blank copy of the student application form, please reach out to us at info@wolfscholars.com.

Step 4: Students Initiate Nomination Verification (online)

keyboard_arrow_down

When applying on the Wolf Scholars application nominated students will:

  • Indicate that they are school-nominated.
  • Input the School Nominator’s contact information, which will trigger the nomination validation request form to the School Nominator Contact.

Step 5: Validate Nomination (online)

keyboard_arrow_down

The School Nominator Contact will receive an automated email from our system requesting validation of the student’s nomination. This validation must be submitted via the link provided in the email by the validation deadline of November 17.

Important: Other than registering once in the Wolf Scholars Portal and validating nominations received via email, all nomination-related processes are conducted independent of Wolf Scholars. Students can trigger the nomination verification form anytime before they submit their application, with a deadline of November 10.

Nomination FAQ

Should I nominate students or encourage them to self-nominate?

keyboard_arrow_down

We have both options available. The nomination helps to add a vote of confidence in an applicant and adds a point of strength in our assessment process as we look holistically at applicants. But we also welcome students to apply independently if their school does not nominate them.

Do I validate the nominations after my students have submitted their applications?

keyboard_arrow_down

No, you can do this any time after the student triggers the request and before the nomination verification deadline of November 17. Once you know which students you are are nominating, let them know. They can update this information in the Nomination tab of their application to trigger the validation request to you, while they continue to work on the rest of their application.

I registered but I can't tell if it worked.

keyboard_arrow_down

You will receive a confirmation email from us.

There are two components to the registration. The first is to open a Wolf Scholars Portal Account. Once you've registered for an account, you will land on our entry page for the Nominator Registration Form. Scroll to the bottom and  click "Start Application (for students) or Registration (for schools)", and fill out the form. Be sure to click "Submit" and you will receive an email to your designated account, confirming registration.

I submitted a registration on the Wolf Scholars Portal for my school, when will it be approved?

keyboard_arrow_down

No need to wait for approval. Once you have completed the registration form, you are in our system as a Nominator School! You will receive an email confirming your registration.

I have students interested in different faculties and programs like Engineering, Nursing, Commerce and Architecture, can I nominate them?

keyboard_arrow_down

Yes, you can nominate them! Students applying to other Faculties at the University of Toronto (such as Engineering, Nursing, Commerce, or Architecture) are also eligible to be nominated, as long as they are also applying to the Faculty of Arts & Science. The Wolf Scholars Program is housed in the University of Toronto's Faculty of Arts & Science, so nominees must have an application there to be considered.
